When the weather starts to change and the leaves start to fall, I usually get the urge to change up my wardrobe. Whether I do a full purge of the things I never wear, or just take stock of what I might need to fill the gaps, I usually need to do a little bit of shopping to deal with a changing season. With today’s social media heavy world, it can be overwhelming to decide where to find the best deals, the latest styles, and scouring out the promo codes that will allow me to save a little money along the way! I’ve learned over the years that quality is always better than quantity, and that the pieces I reach for over and over are the ones that are well made and that fit me well. Here are my picks as you prepare to get some staples for the holidays, or prepare for your senior session:
-Nordstrom: Can you ever go wrong with this fashion headliner? There’s a reason that the retailer has been around for so many years. For starters, their price match policy is really generous, and their customer service is unmatched. You can reach someone via chat nearly all hours of the day, and they usually will help you find the answer to your question, or review your request for a price match. Best of all is their very generous return policy, which accepts nearly any item, at any time, for free! Of course, you don’t want to take advantage of it by returning things you’ve already worn, but it’s nice to know that when you buy high-end items, you can return them if they don’t fit or don’t work out, without losing shipping money or discounts. Our favorite Nordstrom item of the moment? This got-to-have-it Kent cardigan.
-Anthropologie: Okay, so we have started with the high-end retailers, but bear with us. We have bargain sites coming up, too, but we think you shouldn’t skip Anthro just because you’re on a budget. They have an amazing clearance section, especially if you are looking for something unique that will truly make a statement. Keep your eye out for brands like Holding Horses, Maeve, and Cloth and Stone in their large sale selection, and watch for their awesome “extra 40% off” sales that bring prices closer to Target and Old Navy. You have to be pretty vigilant because the sale items go fast, but occasionally, you can really luck out on things like earrings, ankle boots, and pretty sweaters. Our favorite Anthro item of the moment: This stunning, pleated style jumpsuit that could be the true star of a senior session.
Roolee: You have probably seen this popular Instagram boutique while scrolling your feed, and it’s truly worth the hype. While the clothes are not as high-quality (they aren’t meant to withstand years and years of heavy wear, since they are a bit trendier), they have a boho appeal with a polished edge. Most of their items are priced at about $65 and under, and they have a large selection of pretty maxi dresses that look very similar to Free People styles. A fall dress like this Luella Maxi features some of the best colors for the season, and looks amazing paired with a felt hat and pretty suede boots for a soft and pretty look. Our favorite piece of the moment, however, is this simple button sweater that is under $50.
JCrew Factory: It might seem a little matronly, but JCrew is a year-round favorite for when you need simple items to fill in your wardrobe. And their factory site is one of the best-kept secrets around. One thing you need to know is that the quality of the Factory items is just slightly lower than the regular online store, but it’s not noticeable enough to deter us from the great prices. Some things that might differ would be stitching, hardware, and high end finishes that would appear in the nicer pieces, but again, it’s worth the large price gap. We especially love the jeans, the button downs, and the sweaters. It’s also the perfect place to get shoes at a large discount. We haven’t noticed much difference between the regular JCrew shoes and the discount counterparts, so check them out for leather and suede flats, mules, and heels. Our favorite piece of the moment: Dressy scallop-edge flats.
Target: Okay, we know you love getting all your shopping done at Target, but maybe you’re rolling your eyes at the idea of getting the latest styles at the big-box store. We think that’s because you haven’t gotten acquainted with their latest offerings; their in-house brands keep getting better and better, including their trendy Wild Fable line (aimed at fast fashion lovers), and their Universal Thread line, which looks very similar to items from Madewell. Best of all, nearly everything is under $35, and can easily fool your friends and family into thinking you have some of the latest high-end styles! Our favorite item: This high-neck maxi dress under $35.
We hope these five retailers will make your shopping expeditions a little easier this season! We love sharing our favorite deals and steals right here on the blog, so keep coming back for the very best fashion tips!
