When it comes to senior portraits, my clients often have lots of questions about what to expect, and what they will need to know before their big day! I wanted to answer some of the ones that may be at the top of your list! Please note that I do require a pre-session consult for each client, so I can serve you best!
This is definitely one of the top questions on every senior's minds (and their parents)! I recommend putting together a Pinterest board as inspiration for the types of outfits you may want for your shoot. I also suggest beginning your shopping early, so that you don't feel stressed and rushed trying to find that perfect outfit right before your session. Be sure to start with the staples that make you feel confident: your favorite pair of shoes, your best pair of jeans, your earrings that make you feel like a star! Starting with pieces that you love means you'll have less to buy, and you know they already fit and look great. I am always available for a wardrobe consult or to answer questions, and I love helping guide you as you search. You can also look through our blog here at JMP Seniors for ideas from recent shoots! This helps a ton, as you can see how certain pieces photograph and move with a subject. If you're concerned about budget, be sure to check secondhand online stores like ThredUp, or Poshmark if you are looking for designer duds on a tight budget. Other favorites include Lulus, Free People, and Urban Outfitters for show-stopping dresses and tops, and Gap and Jcrew for guy's staples.
The cost of senior portraits is often at the forefront of most parent or guardian's minds. It can be expensive to invest in quality photos, but I encourage you to think about the big picture (pun intended!); these photos are to commemorate a once-in-a-lifetime time in the life of a high schooler, and they will be treasured for years to come. I also would love to chat with you if prices are a high concern: we can discuss any and all fees and product pricing so there are no surprises when it comes time to pay. I want to make sure we are a perfect fit before we get started!
One of the things I work hard at, is finding locations that my seniors love, but also ones that match their personalities and interests. I spend many days and weeks scouting for locations that will work well, including ones that will be season-specific (like leaves in the fall or orchards in the spring, for example). No session is the same here at JMP, because no two seniors are the same. Every one of my clients deserve the very best, and I customize and design each shoot individually. While I don't have an online published list of specific locations, I'm more than happy to share them with you when you book your shoot with me! I also love hearing any ideas you may have about certain places you might like to incorporate (certain locations may incur a travel fee), and of course, my main priority is to give you the portraits you dream of! Let's work together to find the locations you will love!
